Upcoming Events and Spring Break Camps

FREE FAMILY DANCE! Come join the fun! The Treasure Valley Country Western Dance Association (TVCWDA) puts on a free family dance every month. The dance for March is on Saturday, March 13th beginning at 7pm. It is held at the Boise Square Dance Center 6534 W. Diamond, Boise. More information and directions are found at their website: Its a dance for families with children of all ages- no smoking- no alcohol, and they usually teach a couples dance (mixer) and a line dance! Sounds fun!

Have you ever been lost in the woods? Learn how to prepare yourself for grand adventures in the outdoors at “Hike Smart! Lost & Found,” a free family program offered from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, March 13 at the Foothills Learning Center. For more information, see or 493-2530.

The Foothills Learning Center is launching a new series of free programs about vegetable gardening starting Tuesday, March 9. The monthly family classes meet from 6-7 p.m. at the center. Open to children and adults. No registration is required. See website above.

Boise Roadster Show at the Western Idaho Fair Expo this Thursday thru Sunday, March 11-14, 2010. Spiderman will be on hand for pictures with the kids on Saturday. See event website for more details.


Great to Skate Spring Break Camp runs March 29–April 2 at Idaho IceWorld, 7072 S. Eisenman Road . Beginning skaters age 5-12 will learn basic skating skills taught by certified coaches. Edge Spring Break Hockey Camp runs March 29-April 2 at Idaho IceWorld, 7072 S. Eisenman Road . Camp includes instruction in stick handling, power skating, edge work, passing and positional play. Kids will learn how to play golf on their own at a fun five-day spring break camp from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. March 29-April 2 at Warm Springs Golf Course, 2496 Warm Springs Ave. Instructors are golf professionals at the municipal 18-hole course operated by Boise Parks & Recreation. Open to youth age 7-15, this camp will focus on full swing, short game, sand play, rules and etiquette. Campers will also take breaks for movies and down time at a specially designed yurt. Cost is $250, which includes use of clubs. To register, call 343-5661.

Also, the YMCA has lots of Spring Break camps for kids. You do not have to be a Y member to participate in the camps. They also have financial assistance available for members. See their website for a list of camps.
