Fall Giveaway

I am so happy to announce my very first free giveaway!  I have four free tickets to the Farmstead Corn Maze Festival and Pumpkin Patch that I will be raffling off on October 15th.  It has been our family tradition to go to the Farmstead every fall.  What is one of your fall-time traditions?  To enter please leave me a comment with your name and one thing you love to do in the fall between now and October 14th at midnight.   Let's see how many comments we can get about not getting bored in Idaho.

Don't forget to check back October 15th to see if you were the lucky winner of 4 free tickets to the Farmstead Corn Maze Festival and Pumpkin Patch.

We love pumpkin carving and have had some pretty elaborate jacks over the years. One year at Christmas, my husband was able to find a vinyl record of THE Christmas album of his childhood, and he had 14 copies made on CD (one for him, one for his folks, one for each sibling, and one master to keep in the wrap just in case). But since it was already Christmas, he didn't really get a chance to listen to it before the season was over. ... The next year as we were carving our jack-o-lanterns, he stepped out of the room for a minute--and suddenly the air was full of Andy Williams singing "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year..." Every year since, we have carved our jacks to the strains of Andy Williams and the Williams Brothers A Christmas Together.

In our family we get busy canning all those yummy peaches, corn and apple pie filling. Lots of work, but makes for some great memories!

Ooooh, this is a hard one! So many fabulous things to do in the fall. Taking the kids to the Farmstead and Linder Farms is always at the top of the list. Carving pumpkins, decorating the porch with a Harvest theme, crafts, picking out Halloween costumes, and of course Trick-or-Treating are also yearly traditions. But this year I'd like to add one more, just when the trees hit their peak colors I'd like to take my family to Table Rock to gaze at all the beautiful fall colors, watch the sunset, and talk about how blessed we are to live in such an amazing city as Boise.

Woo hoo..free tickets!! My kids can't get enough of falling leaves. It supplies hours of endless fun. I also love the looks on the kids faces when we tell them they have to clean out their pumpkins when they carve them. :)

Ditto to what Angee said. I don't like the fall because it means winter is fast approaching. But Halloween is the singular event that makes the fall somewhat tolerable. ;)

We love going to the pumpkin patch and corn maze each Fall. We also enjoy time with family at Thanksgiving and eating pie! Each year we think of things we can do for other people and color in a turkey feather when it is finished. It is a great way to focus on giving.

My mom isn't too into Halloween spooky things, and gobs of candy. Sooooo.... she has a Harvest Party. We bob for apples or eat them from a string, make pumpkin bread, carve/decorate pumpkins, and roast the seeds. It's a time to celebrate the bounteous harvest, and enjoy being together as a family!

Last year, the island sold out/ran out of pumpkins (literally). Most Halloween costumes are too hot for the 80 degree weather, but hey, I get to go to the beach on Christmas day. :skadoosh:

Our family enjoys making fun Halloween themed dinners....like mummy dogs, and deviled egg eyeballs for appetizers, a beverage of witch's brew, and ghost pears on a stick. A holidy themed train ride on the horseshoe bend express is always an amazing way to spend a day with the family. We always have to squeeze in a hayride at the pumpkin patch too! We also like to go the apple orchard and let the kids help pick them and then we all make applesauce together.

We have never been to a corn maze so this would be so fun for our family. One of our favorite things to do every October is to carve our pumpkins together. Each of the children pick a pumpkin and draw with a permanent marker what they want their pumpkin to be carved like. Then dad helps carve the little ones pumpkins and the the oldest does his own. I make caramel dip to dip sliced apples in- we look forward to this fun activity every year!!

we are new to Idaho so my kids are loving the fall temps. We are used to Florida heat and humidity so we would always hit Disney world in October. We are excited to be here and experience fall in the west!
